1. Get a Firewall. A firewall can be hardware or software that is a barrier between your computer and the internet, filtering information to keep your system safe.  Everyone needs a firewall if you want to protect the information and functionality of your computer.  Some newer computers come with some level of a firewall built into the system, some anti-virus software have firewalls built in. 2. Block and Remove Spyware and Viruses. Spyware and viruses are dangerous because they can arrive unannounced and you’ll never know what happened. They can take over the functionality of your computer and use your system for their purpose. 3. Keep your computer updated.  Paying attention to the system update pop-ups on your computer are annoying and many of us close them without looking. However, those updates are actually patches created by your software and computer manufacturer to keep your system updated and protected. 4. Secure your wireless connection. Many of us think that using public WiFi spots at coffee shops, etc. are safe. Whether you pay for the WiFi or the location offers it free, you are vulnerable to hackers as the public WEP key provided is used by everyone in that location. To protect yourself, make sure the wireless connection is encrypted – if the location is not sure, don’t use their WiFi.  Remember, hackers can see your data as it is going to and from your computer in these environments so protect yourself when in a public setting.

Thanks for your nice article about computer virus. Definitely we need to keep ourself protected from viruses, otherwise we may need to pay for it by loosing all of our important data. But for computer safety we should also take care of the hardware also. Because hardware crash will also destroy our data. For that we should keep it away from dust, dirt, shakes and other things.
