CrossLoop Now in 21 Languages

Previously I had mentioned that CrossLoop now has users in 100+ countries within about 3 months. Many of these users requested us to localize it in their languages - in fact, some came back with the translation themselves! Since we do not know it all and pride ourselves in listening and learning - we localized the software and 2 tabs on our website to 21 new languages.

Some quick notes on the new release:

  • You choose the language during installation
  • You can change the language anytime by clicking on the Systems Menu found by clicking on our logo on the top left corner on our UI
  • The user survey, "Would you use CrossLoop again?", is not shown again for 30 days after a response has been entered
  • With this release the most current version is 1.01. You can check for updates through the Systems Menu as described above.

Grazi. Merci. Gracias. Dhanyawad. Thank You

First User Generated CrossLoop Video

It is no surprise by now that we treasure and celebrate our "firsts".

They seem to be adding up rapidly and here is a very exciting new one - the first demo video of our product made by Brano (I swear I am not slacking!). Apart from that Brano seems to be an avid vlogger - you can subscribe to his vlogs here on YouTube. If you read Slovakian (another 'first' I believe), you can read his review of CrossLoop here on his blog. Since Google and BabelFish do not translate Slovakian into English, I am confident it is all good!

Do a "CrossLoop First" and you get a celebrity status with us!

Good Morning and Good Luck!

There WAS an Alien Amidst CrossLoop

Until yesterday, I was a permanent resident alien. Today, my first day, I am an American! As you can see in the picture, I "see" a dream realize.

Next - CrossLoop's Global Naturalization (?!)

CrossLoop Trivia

There is very little to explain about our product but once in a while things we assume are not well know (Thanks to some great feedback from an avid user today on this realization!) and can be handy information. So here goes:

  • The 12 digit Access code is randomly generated each time you run the application
  • You can use any code you wish with your contact as long as it is 8 characters with one numeric value in it
  • The session will disconnect if you (the JOINer) minimizes the "Viewer" with no mouse movement. This is a trait of tightVNC that we use
  • Almost all sessions are through a peer-to-peer connection. In the very rare instances it does not do so, our backup is to provide the session through one of our servers.
  • We use version 1.2.9 of tightVNC
  • And oh - I am about to take the oath to be an American the day after tomorrow!

There maybe more that I don't know as well so as and when I discover them from the engineers, I will keep you posted.

Good Afternoon and Good Luck

Meet Giuseppe Iovino

We have been very fortunate to receive support from all our users - you did it through blogs, through feedback and user stories, through suggestions, through recommendations on sites and radio shows or through just kind words.

A couple of days ago,I came across a review of CrossLoop in Italian and it got me very excited! It was not only because it was in Italian (CrossLoop got excellent reviews from Giovy and Salvatore - two of the top bloggers in Italy), not only because it was a good review :) but because Giuseppe Iovino is 13 years old (as he corrected me through his email!).

As far as our knowledge goes, he is our first 13 year old user AND blogger! Another excellent "first" to celebrate.

You can read his excellent review here

Good Afternoon and Good Luck!

First Radio Show Featuring CrossLoop

Well - yesterday I mentioned the first Podcast that featured CrossLoop and exciting enough, I discovered the first radio show that had discussed us on the air. Continuing with our tradition of celebrating our firsts, here is more information on the show and the host.

The show called, the Tech Guy, is hosted by Leo Laporte on KFI-AM 640. You can read details on Leo here and the official website for the show is here. He is also the host and Founder/ Host of the Twit.tv podcast (recognized as the top 10 podcast of the year by Time) . Something very cool that I also discovered was that he was my neighbor on VOX with his blog here. Finally, if you are still not impressed by the swanky neighborhood I "live" in, he has also been recognized by Forbes as one of the top 25 Web celebrities here.

You can stream the show where he mentions CrossLoop here.

Obviously he gets our signature "Free Hug" and so does the user who recommended us :). Thank you!

Good Afternoon and Good Luck!

First Podcast to Feature CrossLoop

At least the first one that we are aware of - if you know of another, please let us know and we would love to feature it here. We love all our firsts - started with them here, the second day of CrossLoop going live.

Dr. Bill, The Computer Curmudgeon, has a good following on his well written blog on technology. Apart from that, he has his own Podcast Show. CrossLoop was featured as the "Geek Software of the Week" on his blog here AND then yesterday on his Podcast#75. That is a lot of podcasts and congratulations to Dr. Bill for sustaining the show!

Listen to his take on CrossLoop on his Podcast here

A hearty thanks to Dr.Bill from this team!

Good Night and Good Luck!

CrossLoop Servers Slow

TurtleSome of you may have experienced this, but our servers have been slow the last day or two. You may have felt like this on an autobahn with that sign up.

It is back up to speed now though.

This is not normal as we are very geared to scale easily, which we are having to do since we are seeing many many users from all over the world - 100 countries at my last count recently. Our technology depends on a p2p connection and our servers are not involved in the session at all. Nevertheless, our servers have been slow since the last day or two since our hosting service provider was undergoing network maintenance that really slowed things down.

Autobahn Unacceptable to us, we are in the process of transitioning over to another service provider that is more reliable and robust. Turtle crossings are henceforth banned!

Good Morning and Good Luck

CrossLoop User Stories

We are getting many of these now and I feel if I were to just post a few of them daily, I have content for a few months now!

Drake left a comment yesterday on an earlier post here on his story and here are some more:

Ryan says "Fantastic! I've attempted talking my 80 year old grandpa through installing VNC and configuring his firewall a couple of times now, to no avail. I was looking for software like CrossLoop - and did find some similar ones, but they had excessive fees attached. I'm stoked to have found you (via Digg). Thanks for helping the community"

Mike at Carputers says " The day after Christmas, while visiting my family in  Virginia, I got a call  from a non-techie friend at home in Alabama. I had previously set a wireless network up for this friend using MAC address filtering. She had given her son a new wireless-equipped notebook for Christmas, and needed me to add that notebook to her router’s MAC filter so that her son could access the internet.  Thanks to Crossloop, I was able to do this in a matter of minutes from four states and six hundred-plus road miles away."

Giovanni van Heydoorn, who lives in Holland, is a Web designer. He has design company called Curasign and helps people online by fixing their problems. He says "I have tried many programs to do this and  sometimes the  frustration gets verry high......till i found CrossLoop. With CrossLoop I can help my customers in a easy way and fast. CrossLoop save me now a lot of free times to spend with my wife and kids."

He has shown us a lot of love by getting us right on his homepage - thanks Giovanni!
